    Re:New Closing Threads policy

Hi, I just wanted to say I think the new policy of closing threads if they don't get replies within a certain period of time is a really bad idea. The beauty of internet forums is the fact that you can find old posts and update them as you find new fixes, workarounds etc.
This policy will be a hindrance not a help to Philips' customers.

Why are you implementing this policy anyway? It's not like you have to pay rent for posts that are open?

I'm also disappointed that both posts where this policy was announced are locked and can't be discussed.

    Hi

I understand your Point but still, we need to make sure that this Forum is usefull not only for the long Time Users but also for new ones.
Having tones of Threads open makes it nearly impossible for some, not familiar with this Forum, to keep the Overview on what is solved and what is still ongoing.
Besides that, we clearly statet that if you feel the need to Update a Post or add a Comment, you can get in Contact with the Moderator.

    Regards

    Hi Thomas,
Thanks for replying. A couple of points I'd like to make:

Give Philips' customers some credit. If they are technically savvy enough to find this forum and post on it, then they'll be well able to cope with an "open" thread no matter how old it is.

Each post is dated and each post is self explanatory. The idea that some one could be confused by the thread being open, but old is completely illogical. If that were true then instead of simply closing the old threads you should also delete them to save people being confused by such old information !!!!!!!!

Your new policy of closing older threads is going to make these forums less useful (for new and old users.)

But whats the point of that? Why have the need for a convoluted way of posting to older threads? Why not just leave the threads open? I understand you're trying to meet people with my view half-way, but why cretate the hassle at all?

I appreciate your reply Thomas, but I'm afraid you haven't enlightened me in any way why this policy is required.
