BDP5200/12 V1.31 = Wi-Fi broken
Hi,
I have updated my BDP5200/12 to firmware v1.31, hoping it would improve the miserable WiFi network stability. But unfortunately, the opposite is true. Now the BDP constantly claims that the WiFi dongle could not be found - only that the 5200 has a built-in WiFi module, not a USB dongle!
Does anyone at Philips actually test the updates before offering them to customers?
Has anyone experienced this issue before and can give some hints how to resolve this? Otherwise the player has to go back to Amazon.
Thanks,
Fry

Hi,
try to unplug your BDP for at least 2-3 minutes...

Hi Toengel@Alex,
thanks for your reply. No matter if I unplug the BDP for 2-3 minutes or 2-3 days, nothing changes.
I'm ready to believe that the device itself might be defective, since I've always had an unstable WiFi connection with this unit (but at least got one).
Cheers,
Fry

Hi Oscar, yes, I actually did.
As it turned out, the BDP reacts VERY sensitive to the slightest pressure on the casing. I had my satellite receiver stacked on top of the BDP, and this led to the WiFi module to stop working completely. It's reproducable: I just have to put my hand on the top rear of the casing and give it the slightest push - the WiFi connection will collapse immediately.
Knowing this, my BDP now stands free and is working normal for now.Last edited by fry1206; 10-24-2011 at 04:28 PM.
