32PFL5606H/12 usb video player issues
Hello,
I bought this TV 32PFL5606H/12 a few days ago and i think is a good value for money..
I upgraded to the latest available firmware TPM62E_2.18 (6 october 2011)
I have many problems in playing avi video files from USB flash drive. The tv's media player isn't able to reproduce many audio/video codec.. sometimes i can only see video and sometimes only hear audio.. sometimes neither works.
I read other posts where many users complain of problems with handling video playback from USB or via streaming (this TV has no connection to LAN or WiFi).
I hope in the next firmware release PHILIPS will focus its efforts to have a better media player playback.
Maybe some room for the codec management can be reclaimed deleting the SCENEA function (completely useless to me) or demos.
Thanks
Vale

Hi vale_x79
to make sure you can use Video Files with Audio and Video, please be aware that this TV does only support specific Video Codecs:
MPEG 2/MPEG 4, H.264
To get a better View on what exactly you have to be aware of use this Guide.

Hi Thomas,
thanks for your answer but i can't find the TV 2011 Models xxPFLxxx6 in the matrix you attached.
Anyway the video files i tried on the usb key were all MPEG 4.
In the tv user guide there are not much informations about specific audio/video codecs to use with this format (divx, xvid, aac or wma ..or any other) so i think the compatibility should be the widest possible.
Hope that this observation/request will be addressed properly in order to improve a future firmware release because could be an important aspect to consider for someone when buying a new tv.
Thanks
Valerio

Hello Thomas,
according to the answer you gave me, I think that Philips have no intention to improve the current situation.. is this correct?
You can find out if the problem is hardware, software or maybe commercial because Philips alredy sell other products with better support for multimedia files?
I must say that it is annoying for a 2011 TV model not to support many popular formats or codecs.
Thanks

I have the 32PFL5604H/12 and it seems to play DivX/XVid .avi files, but they aren't very smooth. I wonder if some USB sticks are faster than others?
If DivX isn't on the GPU chip in the TV it's not really possible for software to make it run properly I'd say.

In this case you would preferred use an external player...
I'm also have a some trouble with 32PFL5606H/60
MKV is a package, not a codec... and we can have a trouble when not supported codec in MKV,
and if we have more then one a sound track into MKV (i can't switch track)
Best regards,
Pavel Subach
