Browse USB HD on TV

I have a 42PFL7656 and I'm trying to browse a WD harddisk on it. The only thing I get is "USB-memory device is reading files..." and it's been like that for over half an hour. The harddisk is 1 TB and the total amount of files about 60 GB. What am I doing wrong?

What are the physical dimensions of the disk?
Is there an additional power input?
Maybe there too many files in a single folder?

I figured out that I had to format my disk to FAT32 to make it work. Which is pretty much useless because FAT32 doesn't hold files over 4 GB and I wanted to backup my bluray disk on that harddisk.

Are you sure?
Because the 9705 (2010) model, does support NTFS disks.
Does your manual mention NTFS?

You are correct. The manual states that only FAT32 & DOS filesystems are supported on 7000 series.
And yes, this make the usb playback useless. I don't know what Philips is thinking...

Thanks for looking that up for me. That really isn't good news. I can't believe that this is something you have to take into account when buying a TV. I think most people don't even know this.

So...does anyone have any experience streaming these kind of files (10 GB plus)? That seems to be my only option at this point.

I think it is not correct! I own a 37PFL7605 (7000 series, year 2010): even if the User Manual says that only FAT or DOS formatted USB peripherals are supported, my TV reads my 1 TB Hard Disk having 4 partitions: 3 formatted FAT32 and 1 formatted NTFS. All four of them are read without any problem (except for the TV Mediaplayer, unfortunately very poor!)

the manual will only show what will be supported, so the 7xxx Series does not support NTFS however it does work!
on the other ahnd, multiple partitions.... i dont think so

It is really a nonsense that a TV set as the 7005, able to reproduce mkv files, won't support NTFS formatted Hard Disks...
Anyway, as already written in my previous post, my 1 TB HD with 4 partitions (3 FAT32 and 1 NTFS) fortunately works with my TV.
And I have another one, 320 GB, 6 partitions (5 FAT32 and 1 NTFS), powered via USB: it works too!

NTFS is supported - I also have a 500 GB NTFS formatted USB powered HDD on my 9000 series (2010 model).

I've got a 7515 (2010) and it does support NTFS?

@Sabra: You could use mkvmerge to split the MKV files to parts smaler than 4GB.
