ECD version 1.60 firmware out for BDP8000

    Dear Users,

We will have the ECD version 1.60 firmware live for BDP8000 today.

Once the SW is live and you are connected to the network, you will see a pop up window telling that a new SW is available.

Important: If you have a disc in the loader, first cancel this message, take out the disc and perform the network upgrade via the setup menu.

    Regards

    Hi

the firmware procedure should be changed to prevent for dead players. Change the procedure to automatically open the drive if a disc is inside or display at least a message! I read in some forums that people crashed their players due to this reason.

I saw it in earlier posts already a few times and indeed as far as I could see it is the name of a server.....

    Dear users,

Thanks for giving us your suggestions from time to time to improve our products.

The suggestions given above have actually been tested in our BDP device. However, this unfortunately has caused more problems than solving the issue.

We have acknowledge this issue and we are now exploring ways to make the system robust to handle this, instead of just to have on-screen message and automatically eject disc workaround options.

Thank you again for this suggestion and this triggers us to make improvements in this area.

Hope in the future, we will see more suggestions from you.

    Kind regards,

    Hello, Remko,

I would be pleased if you could tell me when this live update will be available.

I have reported issues with firmware version 1.60 in this thread and to a Philips moderator via PM. The latter was answered by a Philips member called Juan, who said that they were looking into it.

I tried to access the ECD earlier this morning but the player says that updates are not available.

Please note that I can put the player into the network manually, and at this point Net TV works but BD-Live does not. There seems to be a correct search for firmware updates but I am not confident. In this case, it would be interesting to have a downloadable version,

    Thanks for your help.

one reader of my blog told me (after the automatic update), that he crashed his BDP, cause he had a BD inside during the online update...

For some reason this ECD update is not available to me. I tried again yesterday afternoon but unsuccessfully.

I gather it may be directed to /52 users only, assuming of course that firmware 1.60 has sorted out the on-line update issue.

Since Philips is still working on the /78 firmware issues, the only alternative at this point is to wait.

    Hi,

the next one crashed his player due to a disc inside the player... (another blog post).

I suggest to stop the automatic update via network... integrate at least a message to warn the people!

    Hi all

I'm new on the forum. I've dicover it today while I was searching for a hook to restore my BDP8000 after this damned update....
Actually, my kids have launched the update without warning me, and a DVD was in the player.
As I'm reading these posts, I understand that only for this reason my BR player is now only good to be trashed.

Does anybody has a hook to eject the DVD which is inside the player, before I begin to attck it with a hammer ???

    Thank you very much !!!!

    Chris

    hi paulo,
i think /78 should be available as well.
since this is just the LAN version 1.60 firmware and 1.60 is available for /78 before, that's why i think it should be out if there's a USB upgrade for /78 before...

do you still have firmware 1.60 so that you may not be able to see the live one? or you have downgraded it already?
