    Hi, Kwinnie,

I did not downgrade my player, so firmware version 1.60 is still on.

This is still quite confusing, because version 1.56 did not allow for network updates but 1.60 apparently does. If I understood this thing correctly, as a result of network activities being mended to that effect with version 1.60 I should be seeing an on screen message advising me that an ECD update for version 1.60 is available.

It's simply we have an internet upgrade for v1.60 live.
If the ECD version is an updated release for version 1.60, why isn't it called 1.61 or something, and why is it not available for downloading?

If this ECD firmware is the same as the downloaded 1.60, why should I bother?

Now that people are reporting player crashes upon installing the ECD is it wise to insist on such an update?

I would still be glad if Remko from Philips would clarify these issues once more.

    Hi,

ECD update only means, that version 1.60 is available via network installed - independent of your installed version (of course, if you already have 1.60 installed via USB, then you do not get a message, that "version 1.60 is available via network install").

So, if you have version below 1.60 installed and you connect your BDP8000 with the internet, than the BDP displays this message.

The ECD version should be exactly the same as the "USB version".

Indeed as Toengel says. What surprised me though is that after I did the upgrade via USB it worked ok for some days and then since Saturday it fails to connect as described in this one http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...p/t-2583.html?

    Hi, Toengel

It would then be useful only for those with older firmware versions.

At any rate, Philips should have claimed that the ECD update is the same and not for the version 1.60, as reported.

Is my English so bad now that I cannot see the difference between for and to?

Hi Remko, Could you let me in on how to get the BDP8000 up and running after a update with disk in tray, any help would be very appreciated.

    Thank you!
