And finally someone (Savine) was kind enough to use Edgar's video and count the zones on her 52PFL9606:

So yet another one got confirmed!...

Hello again!...

Now that we're getting closer to the date the 46PFL9707 and 60PFL9607 will be officially introduced, the rumors about the Local Dimming specs are starting again... This time the "LED Pro" technique has been renamed "Micro Dimming Premium", but hopefully that's not all that was "improved".
The actual specs (number of zones and LEDs) are still not official, so I will not post them yet. But the fact that "Micro Dimming Premium" stands for Direct LED with Local Dimming has been confirmed by now, so... To ease some minds already.

Hello again everyone!...

The time is here: the new 46PFL9707 and 60PFL9607 are (about to be) available!...
As announced in my previous message, I will now complete my table with all the LED Pro Models' Specs. I already confirmed that the new technique that these models offer, called "Micro Dimming Premium", stands for Direct LED with Local Dimming. On different sites people were speculating about the number of zones, but often their numbers were mixed up between the two sizes, so...
Here are the actual facts:
Zones (X x Y): . . LEDs: . LED Pro Models:
. 120 (10 x 12) . . . 960 . . 32PFL9705
. 168 (12 x 14) . . 1344 . . 40PFL9704, 40PFL9705, 40PFL9606
. 224 (14 x 16) . . 1792 . . 46PFL9704, 46PFL9705, 46PFL9706, 46PFL9707
. 240 (12 x 20) . . 2880 . . 60PFL9607
. 288 (16 x 18) . . 2304 . . 52PFL9704, 52PFL9606
. 288 (18 x 16) . . 2304 . . 58PFL9955, 58PFL9956
So as you can see, the physical specs of the 46PFL9707 are the same as those of the previous 46" models. The Local Dimming Zones of the 60PFL9607 are a bit wider though. Hopefully the new "Micro Dimming Premium" algorithm will offer better performance with fewer problems than the 2010/2011 algorithm.
