[ZDF Mediathek App] Videos stopp at 88 minutes on Philips TVs

Dear Philips (Mark),

I and others in different forums noticed a bug in the "ZDF Mediathek" app. Movies (e.g. the "Borgia" movies, 100 minutes long) stopp at minute 88 and the TVs become black. It is also not possible to forward the movie after minute 88.

The problem was recognized on 2010 TVs (e.g. 9955, 8505).

However, the problem seems not to be present on Philips BDPs, cause I could view the movie on my BDP9600 without any problem.

Can you please take a look at it?

Hi Alex,
Thanks for reporting the issue. From the models you report, I suppose it is seen on TV’s with software 140.40 I tried to reproduce the problem but when I currently try to watch the BORGIA movies I get a message that “due to technical problems the movie cannot be played” (on all episodes, could be a geo-lock)
Do you have other examples of movies longer than 88 minutes that fail as well?

indeed, firmware 140.40 is installed ;-)

I try to find another movie which is over 88 minutes and has this problem - but I only can do that in the evening ;-)

Hi Alex,

I checked the soccer match "Dortmund - Dresden" on ZDF. It stopped at 91:27 (out of 95 mins).
So, it is reproducible. (xxPFLxxx5x/xx models with SW 140.40) It is under investigation.

the problem was also seen on the 9715 TVs (TV550R1, 9.xx) and also with the ARD Mediathek (e.g. Polizeiruf 110, from 30.11.2011, problem occurs after 88 minutes).

it this now fixed with the 140.44 firmware release? Changelog only states that "videos in Videociety breaks after around 2 hours" is fixed...

Hi Mark,

Videos on ZDF Mediathek longer than 40min are still not playable with SW 14.93. Short Videos about 10 - 15 can be played.

Hi,

have an additional Problem at ZDF: In most cases a video is not loaded the first time. Error “due to technical problems the movie cannot be played” is displayed. If I try to start the video again immediately it takes long to load but it will start. Therefore it seems that there are several problems with playing videos at ZDF Mediathek.
