srt subtitle issue (CHINESE) HTS3560/98
Hi,
I have a subtitle issue for MKV, I have a lot of MKV file move together with SRT subtitle (chinese).
It is Ok to play but only for English but for Chinese will show $%^&*#@!@#irr
But if I using MKVtoolnix merge the subtitle it can play normal.
This way will take time, if any other way to play the Chinese subtitle except to merge the subtitle.

this is quite strange ... if after merge it's alright, it s not likely the prob of the srt file...
and english one can be displayed...
hmmmmm, maybe you have to upload your files (mkv together with a srt file to the team for study)
i think it's likely a chinese subtitle support prob...
but since it's /98 (Asia version) i think it should be supported... quite strange

general all MKV...
the chinese subtitle can show normally if using MKVtoolnix merge srt in MKV, but if rename and put into same folder the subtitle will only show some strange word.
I am tired if all my movie using Mkvmerge.

do you have a smaller one to give to the team? just from my experience, if the team does not have the file and cannot reproduce so, it's not likely there's an improvement software...

I don't think is MKV file problem, but is srt file.
Or I just provide the team srt file to test?

hi again,
i think so, maybe srt is enough.
just one more clarification question: can you confirm that you have already chosen Simplified Chinese (CP936) in your subtitle option?

in my case (BDP5100/ 9600/ 3200) it's not.
This can be adjusted through: main menu > settings > preference > subtitle > Chinese (simplified)
to my understanding, BDP and HTS share the same platform for most of the products, etc more recent ones. Not sure if y your players have the above settings or not though...
