42pfl3606h/58 USB subtitles
Please, somebody, answer my question!
I'm from Bosnia, and my parents bought this tv set and they need subtitles support when watching movies from USB.
So, my question is:
Will there be a firmware update to bring USB subtitles support of any kind? It's really frustrating to not be able to have such a basic function on a 2011 TV set.
Thanks in advance,
Zlatan.

Hi Zlatan,
No, this is not likely to be upgraded. It's a Philips policy (very discussed and argued on the forum) not to update the products with features which were not advertised initially on the product's leaflet.
Sorry but yo have this feature you should step-up to 6000 range.
Regards,

Thank you for the answer!
Whell, I saw in firmware update logs, for other 2011 models, that some of them recieved USB subtitle support additionally, so I that thing about initially advertised features doesn't stand.
I would like to know for sure about this issue, so can I have an official answer from the support please!
Thanks,
Zlatan.

Hi
sngbcn is right.
For higher series (6xx6 and upwards) we had the initial intent to add this feature, but brought this feature via an update.
For the 3xx6 Series we did not had the intention to have this feature. So this feature will not come.

Ok, thanks for the answer.
So, this means I'm stuck in this situation. This feature is a must for non-english speaking countries and it's a shame that you won't implement such basic function.
I should bought something else.
Anyway, thanks for the answer.

Hi,
take a look at the Philips Home Media Player (HMP3000, HMP5000, ...). They also support a wide range of codecs...

Whell, maybe I will consider HMP3000, becose it's availible in my city, but, it's an additional cost. I can live without other codecs, but i really need subtitles.

Hi
I'm sorry but i can't answer that question directly as those devices will not be supported in this Forum (only European versions).
But i know from former requests that there are plans to have subtitles also for this TV ranges.
Best you can do is to get in contact with your local Call Center.
