What format should an AVCHD movie be in to play from USB?
more specifically... what FILE extension is needed for the blu-ray to recognise it? I have tried MKV MP4 TS MTS AVI... what does it take? when I try it just says... "no data"
thanks

we are having this codec table here. but not sure which model you are referring to:
http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ht=codec+table
so as long as the codec of your file is in the scope of that... those should be supported.
you can check the codec information using http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
the supported list of this forum is here ... so that you can see which year of model you are referring to...

You will need to copy the whole file structure when wanting to play back AVCHD files on a USB or SD Card. Please see this FAQ for more info on this.

Thank you for your time. i have been informed that the complete file structure needs be in place, device cant play a stand alone file. the unit i have... BDP5506/F7 has the most internet netTv apps... i guess programming to recognise and play stand alone files was sacrificed to make room for apps in the eprom flash? figuring out how to get a fat32 USB to hold a blu-ray movie will be most challenging!.
