37PFL9606H/12 Ambilight works, but the screen itself remains black
Softwareversion not available because there is only a black screen, but yesterday and the day before it was confirmed by the helpdesk that my version (when it was visible) was the latest version.
After using the TV yesterday I switched it off.
This morning I switched on the TV and there was only a black screen (there is sound and there is Ambilight (changing colors as if there is something going on on the screen ...)
Last monday I changed my first 37PFL9606 because of the same problem (after 10 days), thinking it would be a failure in this one.
Now my 2nd one has got the same problem (after 4 days).
Waiting for an answer from the helpdes how to solve this, because I like the Ambilight very much, the reason to choose Philips. But if not solved very soon I will have to say goodbye to Ambilight and switch to another brand ... too bad.
Other problem is the minijack connection, sometimes there is a signal and sometimes there is not, waiting for an answer for this problem to.

Hi Erik,
Do you know if before this the TV received the software update via internet? If yes, just switch your TV off with the hard switch (previously the TV should be on, i.e. black screen with ambilight working). After this restart you should have your TV working normally.
Regards,

Seems to be a common problem
There exist now a number of forum messages that complain about black screens after switching on. I don't think that Ambilight has to do with that. In my case, I just switch on and off a couple of times, sometimes on the remote (standby on/off), sometimes on the power switch. Eventually a picture will appear, though it may take 2, 3 minutes. Currently, I am hoping that the next firmware (after 0.14) will fix that problem.

The TV received an update during installation (monday), after that the TV has been switched off and on several times by using the remote control. Yesterday evening I switched off using the switch on the TV itself. This morning after switching on by using te switch again I haven't seen any image on the display. Ambilight does work and changes color as it should do while watching TV.
My first 37PFL9606H/12 didn't have the problem before the update, unfortunately it is not possible to go back to the old software to see if this solves the problem.
Now waiting for Philips to call me and make an apointment for their technician to come and solve the problem ...

I had the same problem and apparently it is solved after an update yesterday, which the TV was asking for by itself. The TV (42PDL7906K) is connected to WLAN and apparently notices when updates are available.

same here :(
Hey guys,
we are having the exact same problem with our 42PFL7606K we bought in August.
Watched some TV the other night but had to turn off/on/off/on quite a few times until the screen randomly came back.
Are there any news on how to fix this issue? any workarounds?
Thank you all very much
Simon

same here with a 46pfl8606
Yesteday I got this new 46pfl8606 tv and updated to the latest firmware. After starting (cold and standby) the screen stays black but there is sound and ambilight. The only way I can trigger my tv screen to turn back on is to connect my xbox 360 and switch source to the xbox. Then the screen is triggered to start-up.
I called support today and they updated my firmware but this didn't solve my problem. Now they will send a repair man to fix the problem. Hopefully he can help.
