the new youtube "leanback" is not very good.
Hi,
Just upgraded my 46pfl6606T with the 000.14.88.000 firmware.
after that the youtube app was updated to youtube leanback.
I must say the older one was better.
Leanback have the following drawbacks.
* Slow in initial startup
* There is always a movieclip that starts rolling, this is most irritating
* when you press return or back on the remote, you are passed back to nettv menu, why? -i would like to only get back to my search results instead like the old youtube app.
* The virtual keyboard seems slower than the old one.
* When you search films in youtube you cannot see the playtime before starting to play the film, this you could in the old version.
So why do youtube make such a bad app, when the former seemed so good?

+1 Don't install update. Made YouTube virtually unusable. Why did Philips approved to this update???? It's terrible. Please, mr, Philips, post a workaround for undoing this so called 'update'. And please: don't ruin my TV anymore.Last edited by erho; 11-25-2011 at 06:49 PM.

I wouldn't go as far and say "undo". I think the Youtube Leanback is ok if you just want to do some browsing the youtubes.
However, I agree, it is unusable for searching a specific youtube app.
So, Philips, could you please just include both youtube Apps as separete icons?
Then the user can add both and decide what he wants - "Leanback" or "Search" Youtube.

I love YouTube leanback!
TIP: press the up button and search for “sintel”.
Choose the first video found and watch this great animation movie in high definition.
I love it!

I feel the same. The update even remove the key in function using the number button straight from the remote control, like how we key in SMS on a phone.

And the USB keyboard (Microsoft Wireless Desktop 800) is ignored. E.g. the wetter.com - app is accepting keystrokes from USB KB.

New version of this app automatically plays obscene video (with f-bombs) on startup. Also i can't login to my account with playlists and favorites. This is so annoying.
Bring back old version until you fix all issues.

Thanks. Anyway, without access to youtube account, this app is useless for me. So we have to wait for final release.

Any other ideas on how to start the old youtube app on a 2011 TV?
