As far as remote control of DLNA devices, I would also advice all to try Skifta.

I tried Skifta but didn't find it very useful because it didn't (seem to) have any ability to create a playlist --- you can only select the next song to play after the previous one has finished. Or did I miss something?

To help with our investigation can you check whether the same issue occurs when accessing your music with the SimplyShare app from a different DLNA source e.g. PC? This would help in determining the cause of the problem.

As it sais nowhere in the user manual that it even exists an app called simply shar, of course I trew all the cardbord in the bin, and suprise.. one week later I find out thatMy TV does not support the Samsung media shar app, I need Philips own.. but it can not be activated because I trew the box away.
The question is simple: where can I get app activation code? btw, your remote control app for Android is useless, the timeout is so short it loses connection to the tv all the time

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties activating the SimplyShare app. Don't worry about having discarded the packaging for your produce; the activation code is for the app and does not relate to your Philips product.

Thanks a lot for giving us a comprehensive test report on the SimplyShare apps.

This is to give you some feedback on the "incomplete track list" issue: it is a known issue to us that the contents in NAS or other large size HDD cannot be listed completely. The team is now looking into this and we will have an Apps update in the future to resolve this.

Unfortunately the SimplyShare app is not suitable for use with your TV, it only designed for use with some home audio units.

We may have something coming very soon which will bring this functionality for your TV, I will update this thread when more information becomes available .

After dragging a line from the Synology icon to the NP3900 icon a list dialog pops up. I click on "Artist" and the artist names are listed. I click on an artist name and the list is replaced by the message "Content is not available" (in my local language).

The issue with the SimplyShare app not correctly populating the media list has been identified as an issue with NAS drives or very large HDDs. We are working on an upgrade to fix this.
