Best software for picture quality 9705
Hi there,
I have read here and also in other forums that soft 40 36 and 37 bring a drop in image quality, and that 34 was the best so far. I could not find records about oicture quality on 38 or 39.
What is your opinion ? Philips and users
Thanks

Hello Fabrizio,
that's an interesting discussion! Kinda touchy as well, I believe...
But I do hope more will tell us their experiences regarding the differences in picture quality between the many different firmware versions!
I for one have been following the discussions on four different forums (in Dutch/English/German) since the day the 9705 came out, so I have made a list of all the reported differences. I translated all the complains and direct comparisons in grades, ranging from 1 (worst) to 10 (best) and these are the results:
Firmware: Pict.-Quality:
. 075.60 . . . . . . 6
. 140.11 . . . . . . 8
. 140.23 . . . . . . 9
. 140.25 . . . . . . 9
. 140.27 . . . . . . 5
. 140.29 . . . . . . 5
. 140.32 . . . . . . 7
. 140.34 . . . . . . 8
. 140.36 . . . . . . 5
. 140.37 . . . . . . 5
. 140.39 . . . . . . 7
. 140.40 . . . . . . 6
. 140.44 . . . . . . 7
. 140.45 . . . . . . 6
. 140.46 . . . . . . 6
. 140.47 . . . . . . 5
That's interesting, isn't it!?... Anyone care (or dare
) to comment?...

Why would philips degrade the picture? What is the purpose of it, surely they should be making the picture better?

So, if the best quality ever seen on this product is 9/10, why don't you fix this in the software 140.41 (and the others after) to HAVE THIS QUALITY ?

Hi,
I'm sorry for my english...
I have a 9705 40" and I see the movies and games from Play Station 3. The problem when using the 3D, the image isn't nitid (background and first layer).
It's normal? Anyone else have the same problem?

Hi Ali,

what you're saying is similar to what some others have said around the web. But to complete our list, how did the 140.44 compare to 140.34?...

I didn't try 140.44, because it doesn't solve my only really big problem: the subtitle dimming bug. Except for that, that truly annoying behavior, I'm very happy with my 140.25!...

But based on a number of reports around the web, including yours, I updated the PQ List in post #2.
