DLNA Network with TV 58PFL9956H - scheme and how to
Dear all,
I'm here to ask for some clarifications and get benefits of your expertise.
I want to buy a Philips 21:9 58PFL9956H.
I have my LAN100 with several points in my home.
My idea about the network:
- Fix the TV on the wall, plug the TV with the ethernet cable
- Using the TV features and only its remote control, read media content directly from my NAS Seagate BlackArmor 110 (DLNA NAS)
I don't want to use any WiFi for playing video.
Router and NAS are outside the apartment in another room.
Questions:
1) Is the TV - with the above connections and hardware - able to read and play the media content from my NAS? if so, should I do any specific configuration on my NAS?
2) If the answer to the question 1 is "no", please advice on how a DLNA network with this specific TV should be built (hardwares, connections, softwares).
Thanks a lot in advance.
Cheers

Hi,
your setup should work - the NAS, TV, Router need to have the same network subnet... and your NAS need to support DLNA...

Thanks Alex.
Yes, NAS, router and all the other devices are already working well. The only additional and grey point is the TV.
My Seagate NAS is DLNA certified but it's not a recent model and I've never used for this scope before.
Would you be so kind to specify if I need any specific media player software into my NAS or if the TV client works as media player? Moreover, could you confirm I don't need any hardware to work as media player?
I'm struggle to get it, as I receive every day a different opinion...
I'm going to visit your blog.
Thanks!

Hi
The TV is DLNA certified so it can playback files Streamed by an DLNA Server.
In the Data Sheet you can see an Overview on what Files are supported.

Thanks Thomas.
I've bought the 58PFL9955H.
I've connected the tv to my network by cable. It can see the NAS but it can't see any file inside the NAS.
What do I need to make the system working?
thanks!

just for reference, this my NAS:
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/pro...armor_nas_110/
"BlackArmor NAS 110 also lets you stream media files to DLNA® compliant devices or computers running iTunes.® So you have an easy way to centralize your content and display it simultaneously on multiple devices"

Hi
to be able to watch Video files via DLNA, you need a DLNA Server, which is build in to your NAS.
Next is to configure this Server to share Videos stored on this NAS. Please look into the NAS configuartion for sharing options.
