VGA connection between the TV & PC causes "ghosts"

I bought a TV earlier this month and just finished connecting the TV and the PC using the VGA cable supplied with the set.

BUT...When the cable is connected I see "ghosts"/interference on the screen of the TV.
Horizontal lines and shadows that roll from the bottom to the top of the screen.

It doesn't matter if I'm watching the PC or the TV. If the cable is connected their are ghosts.

What do I do?

what TV do you have exactly and which firmware is installed? Check, if you are using the latest version (see support website)!

This could also be a ground loop.

You could try the following and check if the lines disappear:
- turn around the power plug by 180deg.
- remove the Antenna + Ethernet from the TV
- try hooking up a notebook through VGA, which runs on battery.

If you still have the lines, it's a problem with the TV.

Regarding the ghost/Shadow:
- Try to reduce the video refresh to 60 Hz on the PC.
- Also, there are some very cheap and thin VGA cables. Try a "thicker" one which has better shielding and HF characteristics.

Concerning a ground loop, I tried your suggestions with the exception of hooking up a notebook. I simply don't have one.
I know that the results are significant because it is a battery operated device which shouldn't add interference, so I may borrow one.
If it's a problem with the TV I do want to check it out before taking the TV back.

The video refresh is set up to 60 Hz and the VGA cable seems to be a decent one.
It's also the one that was supplied by Phillips with the TV.

You had a VGA cable with your TV? you're lucky, I didnt. What TV do you have?
Still, try a different one, just to be sure it's not broken. Ghosts are 99% due to cables..

Still, try a firmware update as Toengel suggested, maybe it already fixes things.
If not, you can still exchange or return it. My 32PFL7606K was fine with VGA.

The model is 32PFL4606H/12.

I'll try another cable, a notebook and I'm looking to see is there is a software update.

I get the stuff about the cable. Its needs to be properly shielded, screened and insulated in order to keep the static and interference from other cables and instruments from affecting the data that is transmitted. (I remember when someone told me to keep the power adapter for the printer as far away from the display as possible.)

I'll work on it.
