Strange Sound Problem with 42PDL7906 and HTS9241
Hi,
Ok, I have a new Designline 42PDL7906H/12 TV, with a HTS9241/12 Sound Hub connected on the HDMI 1 (ARC) connection.
I also have an AppleTV device on HDMI 2, a PC on HDMI 3 and a satellite box on Scart.
I have encountered a stange problem when playing movies from my iPad, through my AppleTV with the sound on the HTS whereby I can hear the background music through the HTS, but the voices of the actors is missing.
This has happened on two seperate occasions yesterday, and it required both the TV and Soundhub to be power cycled to resolve.
Any ideas?
Also, having the sound drop problem that seems to be mentioned a lot on the forum where I cant get any sound through the soundhub.
I had updated the TV to 000.014.084.000 and the HTS to V1.27
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Thomas,
Does not seem to, when I turn off the Soundhub the TV reverts to it's internal speakers and plays all the sounds correctly
I have not noticed it with any of the other input sources.
I only purchased both systems last Friday so I am still playing around with it, but I will swap the apple over to one of the other HDMI inputs and test it.
I will also try to isolate the exact steps to reproduce the problem.
Regards
Jason

Hi Thomas,
This morning I started playing a movie from my iPad/Apple TV through the TV and everyting was working.
When I switched on the Soundhub I got the background music/sounds but no voices from the characters (was watching Shrek).
Switched off the soundhub so the TV reverted back to it's internal speakers with all of the sounds and voices.
Switched the SoundHub back on and could hear everything including voices.
Worked every time after that - but I didn't get time to try everything from another cold start.

Hi Jason,
Please try again from a cold start and give your input. Also I asume when you play these movies directly through the HTS then you do not have any issues either do you?

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, but yes I have tested it again and it is happening.
I have recorded a video showing it, you can see it from here;

Hello!
I have the same sound problems with an Philips TV and an HTS9241!
When i choose on HTS soundsettings the "Auto" mode sometimes are no voices on the Movie. Its often on new cinema Movies with Sourround or 3d Sound.
When i choose on soundsettings the Vsur or Stereo Sound and not "Auto" the voices are always active....
I try anything... HDMI Calble changed, reset TV and HTS, scanning HDMI, new Updates........
but the Problem already exist.
We need help there........
Thanks!!

Hi,
try on both devices:
- deactivate Easylink
- deactivate ARC
- standby devices
- pull power cord for 2-3 minutes
- restart both devices
- activate both Easylink and ARC
- restart devices
