Hi,
The vertical banding (mpeg artefact reduction) seems to be out.
But:
1. Always color problem with perfect natural motion (in films, when there are movements).
2. Always differences whith the same program on tv tuner and HDMI: need to put definition at 5 with tv tuner, at 3 on HDMI to have the same levels of image peeking.
3. perfect contrast always is too high at maximum position, image is surexposed

Why are you working for free as Philips Betatesters ?
A firmware without information is a risk for your expensive tvs. Let´s wait untill Philips says which solutions is giving this firmware.

Hi,
Just upgraded to the latest version. I'm afraid the the "sound drop at HDMI problem" is still there. However the actual duration of the drop seems to be a much shorter(0.5-1 seconds). For me the drops only happen when watching HD-material, (HD-channels, HD-videogames and Blu-ray discs). My model is a 52pfl8605H/12

Same here with my Popcorn c-200 mediaplayer on a 46pfl9705h. Downgraded, problem gone. Upgraded again just to be sure, sound problem was back....Downgraded again, problem gone. As for 3D no changes, still to much crosstalk. Also dynamic backlight still reacts to much on subtitles and other movements causing a unnatural picture.
I must say that I am disappointed...again.

I have the subtitles problem. There are sources where the effect is not that visible but in others it is everything but subtle. It is generally more visible with homogeneous colored backgrounds, for example fog or even office gray walls where the walls "blink" with the subtitles appearance. To see if backlighting is doing anything you just have to turn it off an on preferably on dark scenes. An obvious example would be the initial or ending credits of a film where besides the white letters there is only the black background. You should see a big difference between an illuminated black and a non illuminated black. This effect should be more visible with a good input. In my case I use a pc 1080p input and in a 1080p mkv the difference is pretty big unless you have exaggerated levels of brightness.

hi there
i think i no what you talking about on my old 9705 week 40 it did the same where on some backround you can see the led blink.philips change the screen and signal bord and softwear to fix the 3d when i got the tv back the black level and colouer not as good so they exchanged the tv for a week 1/2011 this tv agine not as good as my week 40 but what i can see is there has been lot of improvment no more led blinking better viewing angel i dont no about its 3d as i dont have the kit any more
but looks to all this improvment comes at a cost where the black level not as good.i have don a test like you side on dark scens to can tell the backlighting is working fine but on out side scens not much dimming going on.its seems to me there is two difreent 9705 out threre one with new screen and singnal bord and diffrent sw version.if you have one with old parts may be it cant be fixed by softwear updates

FW v000.140.044.000 by 46PFL9705H
Hi,
I'm disappointed:
1) No more automatic updates (from USB), it is only through the TV-menu (Settings...) possible.
2) Sound-problem - some HDMI sources are "bleating" sound (e.g. IPTV STB SIG-220/340).
I returned the firmware v000.140.040.000

Hi Eric,
with the first part he want to say, that in his case the update did not started automatically, after inserting the USB with the update... It only worked by starting the update manually in the settings menu...
However, on my TV it did worked by plugging in the USB stick...
