NTFS/FAT HDD USB-Support for 32PFL5406H
Hi guys,
Could you advice? I've just bought 32PFL5406H and the most interesting thing for me is to use USB connection without any problems.
Last firmware has been installed: TPM62E_2.20, 2011-11-24
My TV reads FAT32-formatted 16GB Transcend USB stick with all avi. jpegs etc, but do not read it when it is NTFS-formatted.
My TV do not recognize WD HDD 500 Gb NTFS-formatted.
What does it mean? In one of the threads I've seen that NTFS should be supported! Is it true?
For HDD WD500: do I need to find HDD with power supply or it is possible to do something with my WD?
It would be good to know what is the best way to play files bigger than 2 Gb?
Thanks a lot,
Vladimir

There's no "official" support for NTFS. You could try to test whether it's a problem with NTFS, with the partition size or with the HDD.
Try to format the USB Stick with NTFS and test if this works. If yes, it's not a NTFS problem.
I read the 500GB is not externally powered? This could be the reason it's not working - you could try a externally powered USB Hub.

If your NTFS-formatted USB stick doesn't work, it's probably not a HDD issue.
Are you using Windows7 or Vista? They use NTFSv6, while XP uses NTFSv5.1
Can you selected an older NTFS version or format it with Windows XP?
Official NTFS support is a difficult Microsoft issue. If you google for NTFS and Linux you'll see what I mean ;-) Still, fortunately, it works on most TVs. It also did work for my old 32PFL5405H, so if NTFS5.1 doesn't work, your best bet is to hope NTFS will "just" appear in one of the following firmware releases, but there will be most probably no statement from Philips.

Thank you, matthias! Yes, I have formatted my stick with Win7. Good advice, will try to do it with XP and give it to know!
Cheers!
