    BDP3200/5 : Sound issues

No problem with CDs or DVDs, but every blu-ray I put in this machine develops sound problems. So either there are a lot of faulty blu-rays out there or its the player.

I get sound drop-outs and I also get sound sync problems - the film can be okay and then partway thru it the soundtrack begins to move out of sync with the video until it begins to look as if I'm watching a dubbed film!

Software says version 1.58, but when I connect to the internet it says no update available.

Is this a common problem, can it be solved easily? Otherwise it renders this blu-ray player useless for its primary purpose.

for upgrades, i suggest you to try the usb upgrade (though is a bit more complicated when compared to the network upgrade, i think it's more stable).
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...&slg=en&scy=GB

for sound drop / sound not sync issue...does that happen to every Blu-ray disc you play, or it's disc specific?
what i guess is that it takes more time for the player to read the video files in a Blu-ray disc when compared to the CD or DVD (more complicated and bigger video files in BDs), so the video may be slower than the audio. but no doubt, this shouldn't be there for a blu-ray player which primary function is tihs.

what is your serial number ? as for this player, i notice in this forum there are 2 different type of serial numbers and that seems to come with different firmware...(but in the support URL i have given, the zipped file contains FW for both products, so your player will detect the correct one... so no worries for that...)

    Hi Firefly,

Also on which Tv does this happen? Did you try a different cable? A different HDMI connection?

    Regards

    Serial number = KX1A1114634791
The problem of sound drop outs occurs with every blu-ray
The problem with sound synch seems to occur with feature film blu-rays
    TV = Sony Bravia 40EX503
Yes, I have tried with a different HDMI cable and a different HDMI socket on the TV
Have yet to try USB upgrade - will give that a go, but has got to the point where I am not buyng anymore blu-rays.

Have updated via USB. Tried a disc - the problem is still there: usually what happens is there is a sound drop-out and then after that the sound begins to move out of sync with the picture. I have not bought a new blu-ray since September and if this problem is not sorted out I will sell my philips player and try a different brand.

There must be some simple solution to this! This is outrageous - nowhere did I see a warning beforehand that a philips player would not be compatible with a sony tv. Come on Philips - sort this out otherwise I will never touch the Philips brand again.
