NP3300 better than MCI298?
Hi there
After my experiment with a MCI298 (I decided it to be too buggy) I would like to go at a NP3300. In advance I would like to get some information if this new model works much better.
Also I want to ask if this model is somehow different in its inside. So one could asume it should work different and even better than elder models.
Best regards
Mr Hope

NP 3300 & MCi 298
Hi
You can hardly compare 298 & 3300. The 298 has CD, USB, FM radio ,touch control. NP 3300 is a network player with looks like a 2W power with a smaller display. If you are more of a online guy then one of these NPs should be good. if you have lots of CD & not so online then 298 is better. What I like about NP 3300 is that it is a small little unit good for kitchen, smaller rooms . What I like the most is the 149 tag. If Philips gives spotify also on this , that would be great. They anounced it for NP 3900 so I think this should be coming... but with philips you never know.

Thank you for a quick answer
I was also hoping that some Philips specialist might drop in and says something. But you are right with your asumption. This machine shall have its place i our kitchen. I think CD is not so important for me. It would have been nice but the MCi298 was unusable.
But I would like to ask you if you really know the NP3300. Or if your knowledge comes from the product sites. Because of I would like to buy a machine that works. Time to christmas gets less an d less ...
Best regards

Hi I think the NP3300 is quite new out of this range, actually it is the newest device they have out of the whole 2K11 Np range (Np3900,NP3700,NP3500 and NP3300).
I myself have the WMS8080 (combination of the MCI8080&NP3700), a NP2900 and a MCI900. My MCI500 I sold it since my wife did not let me to buy the WMS before selling another
It really depends on what you like and want. For newer device I think the NP3900 is the follow up of the NP2900 and that sound is really great. I have heard it in a shop and was impressed by it. Myself I have the NP3700 in the kitchen right now and also for this have to say that the sound rocks... To be honest all devices I have/had in the streamium range were always good in sound and quality ( and hope it stays like this
).
Again it depends on what you want and need and what you like to spend..
Good luck!!

What I need most is someone who has this NP3300 and says it is fully functional. Sound is important but more important for me after that MCi298 desaster is that it simply works and that it has no crashes.

Np3300
I have used NP 3300 for an hour or so & looks good for that price. Of course also depends on whether you are OK with a 2.4inch display or need a bigger one. If you need a bigger display then perhaps NP 3700 is a better one. Can overcome all noises in the kitchen

trouble-free use
Hi fromsomewhere
I really find it fascinating that someone from a completely different part of the world can tell me these helpful things. I now feel much more save about the idea of trying the NP 3300. This display item I think is not my biggest problem. I am interested in trouble-free use.
Best regards

Before you spend yr money... check one thing. How far is your kitchen from your router? The NP 3300 does not have external antenna like NP 3700. So if your router is too many walls away, then NP 3700 would be better. If you can "see " the router from yr kitchen, then NP 3300 should be fine.

Fitrst I have to admit that I could not wait anymore. I ordered one of these machines now. I suppose I will be the first customer reviewer for this thing in amazon ...
But concerning your concerns about my WLAN infrastructure. I am working since days at it. Actually I have enhanced the setting with a D-Link range extender. Sometimes it seems to work :-)
But I really did not know that the 3700 has an external antenna. Where do you know that from? Or is it just such a hinged antenna? Anyway I have to try it now with 3300 because of the price is acceptable.

Ok, I have seen the hinged antenna now. Yes, might be better. Will see how 3300 without that works.

Yes, NP 3300 is better
In order to answer my own thread title: Yes, NP 3300 is much better. It runs stable. Ok, it has less hardware features. But I suppose this is exactly what makes it so much better.
I was a little bit astonished to see a GNU license agreement about Linux running on this small device. Interesting. But why not.
I think this is the reason for the difference in stability compared to the MCi298. In that one there must be buggy parts of hardware. And you don't have a chance to fix these with other drivers or configuration changes (next firmware release did not correct the weird errors people and I have had with MCi298) if the part is a mess.
So this is my last entry in this thread I think. I will keep this NP 3300 and so I have my christmas gift for my wife now.
Best regards
