mci900 multiroom features
Hi
I have a MCi900 system and want a complementary system in my kitchen, witch is compatible with the multiroom playing feature. Specs and info about multiroom are a little ambiguous about supported multiroom features.
Ultimately, I would like to verify if multiroom compatible products (like NP3500 or other NP players) are able to playback all types of media from the MCi900, not only mp3 music on the HDD? I would like to insert a CD into the MCi900 and play the content synchronized on both the MCi900 and a second NP player. Also, with the new Spotify support of MCi900, it would be great if this content also could be shared with other NP players?
I would really appreciate to verify this before running to the store.
Best regards,
Alfi

Hi
Thanks for the answer. This was exactly my worries. It would be interesting to know whether this feature is a question of firmware or if the hardware doesn't support it at all?
To be on the safe side, I guess I have to buy a secondary system also with CD support, like the MCi298? Unfortunately, as far as I understand, this product does not support the multiroom feature at all yet, correct me if I am wrong?
Be
Alfi

Hi Alfi,
You are right the MCI298 indeed does not support the multiroom feature. Devices that do so for example are the NP3900 and the NP3700. Both do not have the any CD support.
For the NP3900 and the NP3700 you will have Spotify available though.

I can't find info anywhere to say the MCi900 supports multiroom playing, ie. you can play the same music from the MCi900 in 2 other rooms with the NP3900 and the NP3700 devices.
Does the MCi900 support this or not?
thanks

Hi Alfi,
Yes the MCI900 does support this. This feature works only with music stored on the HDD & not on CD or inet radio or spotify.

Thanks Lucas, though the name's Andy btw, unless you were still replying to Alfie above?
So why can't I find info anywhere that this product does this, it only mentions it about the MCi8080 system which doesnt have the soundsphere speakers, very strange. anyway, got mine on iBOOD yesterday for £480, so at that price it should be a bargain!

Hi Andy,
The info is in the release notes for the software since it was later added
Check this one http://download.p4c.philips.com/file...96_fhi_eng.pdf

thanks for that.
As it's such a big plus to have this am amazed Philips (or other sites) havent updated their own shop site to indicate this as well as the addition of Spotify. but there you go.
Can't wait for mine to arrive, just hoping the sound is as good as people say it is!

ok, one finaly question. Can you rip from CD to the HDD like on the 8080, or does this all have to be done on a PC? Most of my music is onn my PC anyway, but would nice to be able to rip lossless FLAC files straight to the HDD from CD.

Hi
The MCi 900 or MCi 8080 do not support ripping. You need to transfer the music files to the HDD by using yr PC. Pls also note that the first time you connect your HDD after transferring the muisc, the 900 or 8080 scans it. That takes a few hrs if you fullly load the HDD. Need to be patient during that time
. Once the HDD is scanned, everything works smooth I have seen.
