Bought a used MCi298 and ...

... now I would like to ask some things. Because of the device is from a dealer where it has been returned to by the former owner. I got it for an acceptable price. But I am also allowed to return it if I don't like it. Now I can use it two weeks and then I have to make my decision.
I read a lot about malfunctions that sometimes appeared after a certain time of use. So I hope I do get "my" malfunctions earlier.
One first thing I'd like to know is simply if it is possible to create playlists in my Windows media player and the device finds them somehow and plays them. Possible or not and if yes, how shall it to be done?
Next item is firmware update. How do I find out the version I have? And is there a list of corrected functions that tells me in advance if I might find an update?
These two things are all for the moment. I would be happy if I could get some quick answers.

Back again. I found another question that I want to ask. I read in amazon customer reviews that the device is not able to save the entered wlan key for a while without main source. Because of I have to hide the machine during the day (christmas) I want to know if this is true and what time is possible.
