    NP3300 terrible reception

I've just bought an NP3300. If I use it in the room next to the wireless access point, it's fine. If I use it downstairs, there's no connectivity at all.

To try and get round this, I bought a Netgear range extender, but the as it uses a different SSID (typically networrk_EXT but can be changed), it won't connect to the media server on my PC that has a wired connection to the router.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Doncaster,

So, to clarify, the problem is that the range extender will not connect to the media server on your PC? Think it's more of a network/Netgear range extender/ PC issue, so I would recommend talking to your ISP or maybe router company?

    Cheers,
    WW

And have you tried changing the transmission channel on your router?

Yes - tried channel. There's noone else using 6 nearby that's anywhere near as strong.

Other wireless devices don't have the same problem...

    Hi Doncaster,

Unfortunately, a different SSID is equal to a different network, so NP3300 will not be able to connect with the PC because they are on different network.
The problem is that the router's coverage is weak, as it can't play only when you;re downstairs whereas it seems to be working fine when you're upstairs. You could perhaps try testing it with a router with a stronger transmission signal?

    Good luck!
    WW
