Philips 46pfl9706h colors calibration help
Hi all,
Its been two weeks since i purchased this awsome TV. And two weeks now iam trying to get the right colors and picture.
I found nothing over internet or someone to share there settings with me for the specific model.
Iam creating this post for 46pfl9706 so anyone who bought this expensive TV to have the chance to calibrate the colors correctly and all share our settings.
I will go first. I think iam on the right track, but then again..who iam i to know if they are correct? The picture is right to my eyes. What iam trying to do, is to have the right picture and colors, contrast brightness....etc.
Any feedbacks are welcome.
Here we go.
Smart picture: ISF NIGHT - So we unlock all settings
Backlight Contrast: 53
Brightness: 45
Color: 50
Sharpness: 4
Noice: minimum
Tint: Custom: then to Custom Tint we have : R:120 - G:122 - B: 121 - This is to my personal preferences..iam not sure if iam correct
Then is The Perfect Pixel HD section.
Perfect Natural Motion - Off - I hate how movies look when this option is ON. Is like iam watching a movie made from amateurs.
Clear LCD: OFF
Super resolution: on
Perfect contrast:minimum
Dynamic backlight: off or best picture ( havent notice any difference)
Mpeg artifact reduction: off
Colour enchansement: off
Gamma: -1
Video contrast: 93
I havent touch the experts section because i dont have a clue what to do there.
Here you go guys. Any feedbacks are welcome. I would like to see what settings you guys are using and your happy with it.
*sorry for my poor english

Hi,
I'm looking for the same thing. The TV just arrived today and i want to play with the settings but i have no idea what to change them to to get a nice, crisp picture.
I have found a calibration report online from www.fulhd.gr, but I'm not to happy with the results. here is what they have changed:
Changes made in ISF Night mode:
Backlight contrast: 84
Brightness: 42
Color: as is
Percect Natural Motion: Minimum
Clear LCD: ON
Dynamic Backlight: Standard
Gamma: -1
Color Enhancement: they haven't specified so i guess Minimum
Custom Tint:
R: 127
G: 112
B: 52
R BL: 5
G BL: -2
B BL: 0
Below is the link containing full review but it's in Greek:
http://www.fullhd.gr/2008-03-14-21-3...06-review.html
What are you thoughts everyone...??

hi there
I saw that settings also, iam not happy with those results either. In the tint section B: 52? isnt to low? The colors are way washed out.
Iam downloading some photos now to get the faces of people right. Also the black and white. Where i have the most problem is the custom tint section. There i would need some help.

This worked pretty well for me for movie material:
Backlight contrast: 52
Brightness: 50
Color: 50
Color tint: Warm
Sharpness: 0
All image processing turned off.
Perfect Pixel HD:
Everything off except "dynamic backlight" -> "best picture". Use video scaling "unscaled" if it suits your signal source.
Video contrast: 70

Why not trying also the Greek forum? (avclub.gr).
Miltos, the fact that you see no difference between "off" and "best picture", is not very promising...
Unfortunately, I am an 9705 owner, and not an 9706 one.
I am not sure how much 9706 has changed wrt 9705, but my settings (for DVB-T) are here: http://www.avclub.gr/forum/showthrea...post1056375458
My measurements on the 9705 had shown that the TV was quite accurate in the warm colour tint (I did only minor corrections there). The best dynamic backlighting preset was "typical" - avoid best picture. And colour was slightly too much, so color must be set at 47...
I have posted my settings here: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ll=1#post17253
But regarding cinema (HD material) I suggest "typical" for backlight, 51 for brightness, 70 for contrast, 47 for colour, using the warm preset.
And gamma at 3.
But, I haven't tried these on an 9706, nor I have measured one :-)

Well, no 3D. I don't like 3D in any TV, or the cinema.
I gave up 3D early on the 9705, as local dimming is not working (so no blacks), and excessive cross-talk. The result is an awful picture, nothing to fix there...
Even the colours are wrong. What is the point in viewing a movie if it has been so much distorted?
Let alone the fact that 3D is a tiresome experience on all TVs...
