40pfl5606 foreign language support
Hi
I own a 40pfl5606 TV with Software version TPM62E 2.18 and PQ Version Flash PQ v0.07 110808
when I watch a movie from the usb, It reads english subtitles correctly.
when I try to watch a movie with hebrew subtitle (.srt), it displays gibberish.
In the options menu I can choose Hebrew in the subtitle language sub-menu, but still it does not show Hebrew.
Same problem with EPG (DVBT)
Does this model supports/will support hebrew? what is the meaning of the "hebrew" in the subtitle language menu?
Regards,
Itay

Hi Itay,
Only latin characters are supported for subtitles.
On the subtitle audio language if you see "hebrew" its because the channel does broadcast but if TV doesn't support the character set what you'll see is those strange symbols.

Hi,
The problem is not with channel broadcasts.
When I watch a tv channel (DVBT), it displays the hebrew subtitle stream without any problem.
When I watch a movie with .srt subtitle file, the TV won't display the hebrew characters.
The options->subtitle language menu is affecting the subtitles character set (when I switch between the languages, I see the gibberish is changing from " ?.?" to "ßąê")

Hi Itay,
Ok, I understand now, but this is normal the Latin alphabet as defined by ISO-8859-1, includes these characters that you write.
Hebrew and other character sets (for example Greek) are not supported... unfortunately.
I've seen this situation before on the forum...
