Philips TV + Philips HTS .... and no Easylink audio passthrough?

Hey!

So,

I have a Philips 40PFL5505d 40 inch TV, which I have hooked up to the Philips HTS3951BV Home Theater system on HDMI1. On HDMI 2 I have my HD cable box. I was under the impression, from the manual and the website that while watching the cable input my surround sound will output the sound. I know this is only possible when the HDMI handshake is working, through CEC.
I have enabled Philips EASYLINK on both devices, and set the TV to "Speakers Easylink". Still nothing.
I have also tried 3 different HDMI cables. The easy link works as I can control my HTS using my TV remote, but the HTS doesn't output the audio when I select "Speakers Easylink", instead I get the normal TV speakers.

Any ideas? This is pretty much my only reason for getting the surround sound... to watch my HD TV in 5.1 (I don't care for dvd's and blurays...)

Hi

The 40PFL5505D/F7 does not have ARC. The “Speakers Easylink” setting allows for the volume button of the TV to control the volume level of the HTS unit, but will not pass the actual audio through HDMI. In order to get the sound from the TV to the HTS unit, you would need to connect the Audio out on the back of the TV to the Audio in on the back of the HTS unit, then set the HTS to the proper source input.
