Tv Philips: 40PFL8606M
Original firmware: v.0.14.84.0
Update firmware: v.0.14.93.0
Reseller: www.monclick.it
Order n.: YA10774503 21/11/2011
Local assistance: Guzzo Service Via Sagra San Michele 19/a Tel. 0114476890,0114347161
I bought Tv in November (22/11/2011), best 2011 40" Philips TV choice, after few day (25 Nov.) call help desk with first ticket SR#: 50-897621286, a dead sub-pixel green in the center LCD panel is not considered to be a warranty or return/repair issue. Scratch, dust, fingerprint in the internal glass are common in the product from old 40pfl8605 series????

My opinion is return TV to local assistance only with warranty for replacement product not repair, TV 40" assistance on-site can vision product at my home, and decide for "ok" to replace product.
Thanks for reply and sorry for my poor English

Same problem here
I've just (15/02/2012) bought a Philips 46PFL8606M, from the same site as Tecpao, mine display got the same issues, dirt inside the glass and at least 2 green sub-pixel dead (i've seen only these 2 for now), added to this my panel is affeted from an annoying clouding effect in the top center and bottom center sections of the screen.
I was planning to bring the tv to my local assistance center for the glass, but after i've noticed the dead pixel i think that a glass clearing isn't enough.
At this time i'm waiting an aswer from both the shop and the philips support, based on the answer i'll think what to do.

Dear Alessandro,
same issue experienced from me last year: the screen was dirty behind the glass.
i've brought immediately the TV back to the "Trony" shop and they've changed it with another one. With the second one it was ok.
You don't have to wait for an answer form the e-shop: they have to substitue it immediately with another one. the purchase was 3 days ago!
This is officialy declared from the italian "diritto di recesso" (should be "right of withdrawal" in english but I'm not sure). They are 100 % aware of it.
In your case we're speaking about lack of conformity.
If the e-shop still deny the substitution, a Consumer's association lawyer with a telephone call/letter to the shop could immediately solve the issue.

Thank you for the suggestion.
I think that monday morning i'll phone to request the substitution. The only thing that worries me is that i'm quite unlucky in hi-tech items. So if the replacement suffers of the same issues i have to send it back again. Quite frustrating.
I've bought this particular model because reading around the web almost everyone said "clouding free" and obviously i've taken one with clouding

Good morning,
the E-commerce for such big and heavy items (Tv, washing machines , etc...) is frustrating when the product is defective.
Better to purchase them in a shop in my opinion when possible.
As told you before, the shop get back the defective item and give you immediately the same item in substitution. You can check the new item's integrity on site without going back home.
The back shipment for e-commerce is annoying and expensive.
