USB recording in 8xx5/9xx5 TV model (2010)

Why Philips don't implement USB recording on 8xx5/9xx5 TV (as it did for 8xx6/9xx6 models)?

The user payed 1000/1500 euro for a Tv that has a lack of feature available on competiotrs TV of 300 euros.

Samsung did it for two years ago TV products.

I think that is not an harwdare issue but a software issue.

I hope that Philips will consider teh suer that payed a lot for their products.

My post is to asking to the other user what they think to have a TV payed a lot of euro that don't have same features of competiors TV of 300 euro and make pressure to Philips to revise his position about this update.

I think that is not an harwdare issue but a software issue.

Sorry but that is not right.
The Feature depends on Software AND Hardware.
So there will be no Update.

How is possiblke that Samsung use an hardware of 2009 that enable USB recording through a software and Philips at the end of 2010/first month of 2011 use an hardware that on a pltaform that cost three tiomes than Samsung don't enable USB recording?

Or the product sell in 2010/2011 are really based on hardware that is before 2009?

It's useless to discuss. You saw the feature list before you bought the TV.
Philips is required to encrypt recordings and this requires h/w support.
So if this support is not part of the CPU board there is no legal way to add
recording. I suggest to allow custom firmware.

More anoying is the fact that they are still not able to fix
the Sound drop bug and the fact that now and next IPG
is not available.

I think that for you is not useless teh discussion but is not true for all.

I know very well that original feature of my TV don't include USB recording.
But it's the same for many Samsung TV (2009/2010) that receive though firmware update the NEW feature of USB recording.

Probably because Samsung have a better knowledge of user request/wishes than Philips.
