Question Philips IFA 2011 and Smart TV annoucement

    Hello,

I purchased a 46pfl7705DV led tv in the USA in 2011 ( 2010 model) with virtually no nettv applications. as you can imagine i was very disapointed and considering purchasing another tv from a different manufacturer unless philips is really going to be serious about their customers and the annoucement made at germany IFA 2011.

Is philips intend to release firmware update on the 2009 and 2010 models to add SMART TV functionnality as indicated in the press release below

In general, I would say announcements made on ifa 2011 are more directed to future (2012 or some 2011) models, since 2011 models are partly already available and state of the art. One can not assume, that a TV, you buy now, will have all functionality Philips will announce in the future.

For the SmartTV portal, it was announced here in the forum, that it will become available for all connected TVs (since 2009). Not all functionality described in the press release will be available on each older TV.
Recording for example is not available for 2009 or 2010 TVs due to limitations of the hardware. I think acetrax and maxdome (NetTV services) will only be available on 2011 TVs, due to limitations of the older TVs.

But the Connectivity or SimplyShare functionality is already available. Please see the MyRemote app for the smartphone.

Maybe you can change the country setting to access more apps?

MyRemote is for Android or iOS based mobile phones to control your TV. Does it not work with your TV? Or did you look for an app on your TV?

Are you able to change country setting? Maybe you can find apps for GB?

    Smart,

You have been very helpful those far. however the 46pfl7705dv uses wifimediaconnect and does not have dlna to use this myremote application.
I have yet to hear from a Philips moderator to address my issue and others with the lack of support in this product in the USA. Europe seem to get all the attention.

so my question to philips moderator. is what can this annoucement do for the people in the usa/north america with a connected TV that is barely a year old?
Are we going to get supported or left in the dust?

    Hi

Unfortunately the 46pfl7705DV/F7 is not compatible with the MyRemote app for iOS and Android. Due to limitations of the hardware used in this set, we will not be adding this functionality at a later date.

    Regards
    Thomas

Thomas, thanks for your answer. my real question was about the nettv and smart tv annoucement for my tv purchased in the USA. I have no interest about the the myremote gadget.
why is this tv not getting any support in the USA?
what does the annoucement mean to me since it states that all 7000 series even 2009 and 2010 will get support. As i have indicated before, i will be very upset if Philips do not improve this product. and release additionnal application as shown in the product page when purchased.
