Again MKV issues
Hello,
I'm still in troble with a .mkv file that doesn't play on my 40PFL8606m/08.
I attach the MediaInfio text-report. I don't think it's a matter of audio. So what's wrong?
Thanks in advance for your valuable support!

Hi
File size is limited to 4GB max. also we don't support this High Profile.
Please recode the File to another Profile (MP/BP) and with less than 4GB.

Since the introduction of Blue Ray Disc that is a joke. Just as it is a joke to limit filenames to 100 characters when browsing files on a Linux or Windows PC. Just as it is a joke to implement such limits on an embedded linux with integrated support of ext and NTFS filesystems.

I have the same problem, but I can´t indicate it. The TV plays some mkv files and others not. I have a mkv movie (1080p) with the filesize of 10GB and Audio with 6 Channels. This file works. Another movie ist a 720p with also 6 Audio Channels´(I think it is DTS, isn´t it?). This don´t work. Also I have a movie only in Steroe which doesn´t work. So I am not sure what´s the problem!?
I solved the Problem by converting the movies with mkv2vob into mpg-files. They have the same video quality, but they aren´t container files anymore, so I can´t decide if I want to see the movie with subtitles or not.
Also, I have another question. I have avi-files with to languages. How can I change the language while watching it?

Hello,
I have the same problem. Some mkv files will be played others not. The problem is the codec which is used in the mkv container. Can anybody tell us which are the supported codecs?
The problem with the file-size can just be a joke.

It seems that solution for this may be using DLNa server with transcoding feature (witch will allow to transcode video on the fly while file is played).
Transcoding requires a lot of resources so I believe you must have CUDA compatible graphic card.
I'll test it soon.
Here is DLNa server copmare

Hi,
thanks for the information. The problem aren't the video codecs but rather the audio codecs. The TV won't support DTS and the most MKV's containes DTS Codec for audio.
Transcode on the fly is to busy for NAS-storrage(location of the MKV's). Another solution is to transcode the DTS with an audio-converter (e.g. PopCorn MKV AudioConverter) to AC3.
But it's a roundabout way and I trust that there will be a possibility to play DTS with the next software-updates.

Hi,
DTS will not be supported in the future. However, you can convert the DTS to AC3 additionally and move the new AC3 stream at the first position. The TV always reads the first track.
Video
Audio 1 => AC3
Audio 2 => DTS
This should work and you have preserved your DTS stream.

Dear Philips,
It really is a joke at least so for your loyal consumers. Can you please take some action - software upgrade to solve the problem? Really appreciate your support.
Your loyal consumers who always buy Philips.....and hope to continue so.
