Hi,
on 2011 devices the YouTube app was replaced by the YouTube Leanback. And the Leanback does not support USB keyboards...

Hi,
I think it's not a Philips decision. Google/YouTube did program this app and did not use the USB keyboard support functionality. But Philips - Mark already said, that they will provide a new app in long term to be more in line with the website leanback...

I just updated my BDP5200's firmware, and find the new Youtube interface horrible! There should have been a warning stating the firmware update would render Youtube support useless!
And the Youtube support is one of the main reasons I chose this player in the first place. I'm not a happy camper right now, to put it mildly...

Successfully UPgraded my BDP5200 from firmware 1.42 to 1.35, and all is well again with Youtube now -- whew!
Found the link on a German forum, the download says it's the German version, but there's no difference:

@Nettle - > Sure only Youtube "input" is affected by the problem, other things work. Hence my post.
Youtube the application Philips promote in their manual as THE program to benefit from an aditional USB keyboard.
Other applications as well as Net TV navigation work with the keyboard.
However, all the applications seem to strive to catch the crown of worst implemented input method and so far Youtube wins.
Sending SMS in the 90's was a joy in comparison.
Things may improve in the future. In the meanwhile I will write the consumer magazine that inspired to buy this TV Series about this issue.Last edited by Fatmelter; 02-23-2012 at 06:27 AM.

Well, I never managed to have Youtube working on my TV. Philips support in Brazil says they know that the app is not working, and they *plan* to have it fixed in future updates of the firmware. When you click the applet, it tries to load for some seconds, but the image stays in the Net TV screen.
Also, last fw available for Brazil is 014.093, tv model is 40PFL5806D/78.

Nice job, Philips, well done!!!
8 weeks - no progress...
Let me show you, dear Philips, a top secret link. DO NOT SHARE IT!!!
http://www.youtube.com/dev
Todo list for you, Philips (sorta project plan):
1. Find 1 (one) html/js developer and 1 (one) look&feel pro.
2. Bring them some coffee.
3. Wait for 2 (two) hours.
PROFIT - you have new, pretty good youtube app.
I know what I'm saying - I just did it for my kid's netbook. Small app, that shows toons and kid songs for her. Should I send you a source code of my application? I could try, but it's too big to send - almost 300 lines of code (html+js).
