5.1 Over HDMI
How to tell 55pfl7606 to report 5.1 speakers setup over (EDID -> HDMI) to PC ...
as now it reports only 2 channel (Stereo)..
But i have working 5.1 setup connected to TV over optical out... (audio receiver does not have hdmi support)
as its "old" Philips SA8500lx"....
Nvidia diver has no "override"... Support say its by design.. ant TV should report correct setup!!!Last edited by TeMpL; 01-20-2012 at 10:50 AM.

Hi,
the problem is, that the EDID information of the TV provide different information regarding sound:
AndCE speaker allocation data
Channel configuration.... 2.0
Front left/right......... Yes
Front LFE................ No
Front center............. No
Rear left/right.......... No
Rear center.............. No
Front left/right center.. No
Rear left/right center... No
Rear LFE................. No
Your PC recognizes that your TV only have 2 Speakers and consequently takes the LPCM 2.0 sound. You need to find a videoplayer which "overides" the EDID information.CE audio data (formats supported)
LPCM 2-channel, 16/20/24 bit depths at 32/44/48/88/96 kHz
AC-3 6-channel, 640k max. bit rate at 32/44/48 kHz

Just confirmed that PFL9705 passes through 5.1 from BDP7600 (but not from 7500) to receiver via coax!
