42PFL7676H does not send sound from '3D from USB' to optical out
Hello All,
I have a 42PFL7676H (as I mentioned before) and I want to play 3D movies from USB.
After some experimenting I got that working (found out that the TV is quite picky when it comes to sound and video-formats), but now my MKV's work, with audio AC3.
I have an old amplifier and I have bought an optical-to-electrical converter, to connect the TV to it. That works like a charm, when watching TV or streaming from my PC. However, when I play 3D from USB, the sound only plays on the TV speakers (no sound on optical out).
Can this be a bug? Or is it something I'm missing...

Hi,
I think your converter does not support all kinds of AC3 streams...

I wasn't aware that there were different types...
What type of stream does the TV send, when watching TV (which comes via HDMI 1)?

Hi,
I think some converters can only convert 44.1 KHz inputs... so check what your converter supports... and post it ;-)

I forwarded that question to the supplier...
But forgive if I don't see the point. The 3D movie sound plays fine when I use the TV-speakers. The converter works fine, when the TV gets its input from my digital decoder (via HDMI). Does the TV not output the same signal to the optical out for any sound?

Just tried to see if the problem lies with the 'USB -> optical out' connection. I played a W7 video sample (Wildlife in HD.wmv) from USB. That plays fine WITH SOUND on the optical out!
So apparently the video-stream matters
It's a drag, cause now I'll have to find out, what audio to use and convert my MKV... what a drag!

Hi,
just post the MediaInfo of that file, which does not work. DTS is not supported on Philips TVs.

Hi,
can you please use the program MediaInfo.sourceforge.net and paste the complete info (text mode). It does contain more information.

This is what MediaInfo has to say:
I hope this sheds some light on the matter? The compatibility-list for my TV only mentions HE-AAC, AC3, MP3 and PCM as audio-codec. Right, things are getting more complicated rapidly.
The supplier of the optical-to-analog converter states that:So I tried to convert the audio from AC3 to PCM, which eventually succeeded. I attached my USB-drive to the TV, browsed to the file and BINGO:The converter only supports 2-channel PCM
Like I said before: the list clearly mentions HE-AAC, AC3, MP3 and PCM as audio-codecs for MKV files. This is what MediaInfo syas this time:Error: the file can not be found or played.
Any ideas?Code:Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L5.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames Muxing mode : Header stripping Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 44mn 2s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Writing library : x264 core Default : Yes Forced : No Color primaries : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4, SMPTE RP177 Transfer characteristics : BT.709-5, BT.1361 Matrix coefficients : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4 709, SMPTE RP177 Audio ID : 2 Format : PCM Codec ID : A_PCM/INT/LIT Duration : 44mn 2s Bit rate mode : Constant Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz Bit depth : 16 bits Default : Yes Forced : No
