    65PUS7601 Lots of Problems

I purchased a 65PUS7601 two weeks ago. I have a fair few problems that are pretty much rendering the TV unwatchable and need some support getting them resolved.

    1. Bright banding running vertically dead centre of the screen. Visible in any light scenes and horribly distracting when watching any sports. Other, less noticeable bright bands toward the edges. It gives me a migraine to watch the TV as I'm always focusing on the band and then back to the picture. No amount of settings changes can resolve.
    2. Dead Pixels. I've never seen so many. There's an arc of about 40 dead pixels running from the bezel into the screen, surrounded by greenish stuck pixels. There are three more clusters of about 10 dead pixels, visible from normal viewing distance. There are about 5 more dead pixels randomly dotted about the screen; I'd say 70 or so combined.
    3. Dust. There is a 4mm blob of dust trapped under the screen

Any potential to repair or replace? It's pretty much unwatchable in its current state.

Wow where did you buy it from ??

I'd get that returned asap to the store I'd purchased it from, not acceptable on a new TV.

The banding you mention possibly may have be due to your settings, what value do you have 'Contrast' in the standard settings ?
It's actually backlight on these TVs.

Also you could try and change the Local dimming setting which is called 'Contrast Mode' in advanced settings.

However, dead pixels and dust under the screen anno 2017, no thanks.

Take it back and exchange it or get a refund it's not fit for purpose

Bought it from AO.com; typically they sold out of that model a few days after I bought it.

Contrast is set at 45 and contrast mode is "best picture".

I'm looking to return it but AO have no stock to exchange and I can't find anyone else selling the TV. Can't even find anything comparable on terms of quality. I'd hate to lose the Ambilight as it's a great feature.

I guess I'm going to ask for the panel to be replaced first.

Well these are spectacular TV's so I understand you wanting to keep it.... but as its so new i'd be really tempted to get a refund and hope they come up in stock again.

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago now aswell, from AO.com, they had been in stock for ages then the day before I wanted to buy they went out of stock.
Luckily I picked one up from Elekdirect for £1190 on 3rd Sept.

AO.com had them come back in stock twice since that date, but only very briefly.

Maybe if you send yours back they can get you another one ???

Thanks for the advice. AO have no stock but will keep me updated if they do get any stock.

Better news is that I had a call from Philips service team today; they are going to replace the screen with a defect free panel at home so hopefully this will do the trick.

I have the exact same problem as described in opening post problem 1, same shop etc.

I have raised the issue through Phillips and just need to wait a couple of days for a response.

I called AO yesterday as they now have stock of this TV again. Just said to them that I spoke with Philips who confirmed it was a fault panel and they are replacing the tv. Replacement being delivered on Monday.

Update; AO replaced the television last week; very quick and efficient replacement service. The new 65PUS7601 I now have has zero dead pixels () and there is an excellent uniformity to the screen with zero banding. It may be a placebo effect but after using the exact same settings as before, my ambilight is much more saturated in terms of colour, with really vivid greens and blues. The new tv also seems to have much better control over local dimming. Watched guardians 2 in 4K HDR again and the slight halo effect of the old tv had totally gone; much better blacks. Very happy now.

So, my enjoyment was short lived. Six weeks later and, after setting up the XBox Scorpio and watching a HDR movie - I see a black "fly" on the screen. I get out of my chair to dust it off.

It's not a fly; it's a cluster of dead pixels bang in the middle of the screen about 5mm in diameter. I know there were no dead pixels when it was installed so I'm confused.

Nervously looking around the screen, I see another couple of dead pixels to the right of the screen. Even worse, I now can see three stuck white pixels to the left of the screen too.

Great. Now when I watch TV, I see bright pixels glaring from dark scenes and a black blob on the screen when there is a bright scene.

Philips repair initiated but they are dragging their heels.
