We are having trouble with the 40PFL7606D/78 here in Brazil.
Philips announced this model with Spectra 2 but actually functions as Spectra (a different color on each side of the tv). Philips recently announced, after making us wait for over two months, it is not a problem but a feature of the device. Since the very Philips asked to wait while she developed a new firmware to fix the defect.
Please, we need a solution!

If u look one post up you see a reply from Philips that they will contact you and fix it. What more do u need? BTW: Ambilight Spectra 2 means nothing more than 2 sided Ambilight, it says nothing about pixelated colours....

Well, the Philips Brazil said for me that they will contact me 1 week ago to fix the ambilight problem, but they never did, i'`m kind desappointed with the brazilian philips, i'm sad caus i like the philips tvs.

The problem is right there, my dear. Philips Brazil sold here having this tv Spectra 2 (two or more different colors on each side of the tv, but more than one color on each side). This is quite different from designing a Spectra color only on each side. As an example, the series 8000 also marketed as Spectra 2 projects two or three different colors on each side of the TV. Now, how to bring to an authorized Philips itself says there is no problem, this Spectra 2 series in 7000 (in Brazil only) serves as Spectra! The question is so absurd and shameful that Philips is modifying the website to evade his mistake. That is, a product sold (32PFL7606D/78, 40PFL7606D/78 and 47PFL7606D/78) with a feature that does not work as advertised!. What characterizes misleading advertising. And not to mention two or three months ago, Philips announced that it would be correcting the problem through a new firmware. This she spoke to several buyers of the same product, making us wait so long and now simply say that there is no problem in these models of the 7000 series.

BTW, Cookie is right: Spectra 2 means 2-sided and Spectra 3 is 3-sided Ambilight (Spectra 1 does not exist). This can be one-colour per side, but also multi-coloured.

Ok Juan, but the Brazilian Philips could have a better explaination the difference between the ambilights colors, but they never did.
Actually they think the ambilight was with problem and they did promise to fix it, and everybody here was waiting to fix the problem, but the philips said one month later that no was problem at all with ambilights, so is a big confusion for us costumers.
A lot people bought tv and wait to fix the ambilight but that never happened, cause just later they(philips) explained about the ambilight colors, this is a really frustating.And now it's to late, we lost money thinking that we have one tv e actually we have other

Thanks you, Philips really entered in contact with me, and he is really making something, but now they are delaying in the delivery of the new TV

The Philips recognized the error, modified the advertising and goes to change the TV

But so far nobody received a television set new, as promised

I also live in Brazil and have to say this is a bummer indeed, I compared several TVs and paid a bit more on the philips compared to the competition... and one of the reasons for choosing it was the ambilight, tbh it works just fine but after noticing that my experience could even be better I was really disappointed with the fact of no action coming from Philips' end to try to fix the mess they made with their advertising...

Is it really so hard to release a patch of some kind to get them LEDs flashing in different colours as announced?

One more thing that got me a bit uneasy were the apps, it is said that Philips offers over 500 apps and there are about 20 available on my TV, 10 of them complete rubbish, how can I browse and install other ones apart from the hand full that are available for download in the DL area in the SMARTV function, is there a site or link that can be done??

Thank you Juan for helping us, the philips of Brazil said that would give me a new TV until the day 04.02.2012 (Monday), not yet arrived, if not come Monday I'll be back here again to talk to you (Juan), cause I think you can support us.
