Problem with CI+-module
Since quite a few forum members have the same problem with CI+-modules I've decided to start an own thread for this bug.
I'm using a CI+-module from "Kabel Deutschland"; the CI+-Module is from SMiT, model 1660, Software-version 3.3.3.2, L12. According to the CI-menu I'm using a Smartcard version 3, CA-Version 3.159.201.28. Sometimes (but not every time) switching to an encrypted channel results in the message "encrypted channel" - switching back and forth (or just selecting the same channel again) fixes that problem temporarily (for that channel!).
Please look into that bug, it's very annoying.
TV-model: 37PFL9606K/02.
Other members have similar problems as stated here, here and here.

@Toengel: I also experience the no image + "Encrypted channel" issue with my CI+ module from UPC, the Netherlands, but I don't understand how this is related to the sound dropouts post on your blog.

Hi,
I could imagine that there is some kind of problem that the decryption via a module or the communication between module and TV isn't proper implemented. I assume that the decryption stream isn't fluent and consequently the datastream is interrupted. This could have the effect, that the audio stream is intermittend for some seconds or the whole communication between module and TV is broken => "Encrypted channel"...
However, these are only assumptions...

CI problem, Dropouts
Next try.... :-(
TV: 32PFL9606k/02
FW: v0.14.95.0
Hello!
On my TV with Alphacrypt Classic CI Module, V3.23, and Unitymedia Smartcard UM02 there are still dropouts on encrypted channels, the device turns off several seconds and then displays a message box with no content, television image and sound are affected!
The two companies involved, Philips and Mascom, make each other responsible for this bug, this behavior is no longer acceptable.
Now the error message "Unsupported video format" is displayed.

This Posting claims that the CI+-bug will be fixed for 5000, 6000 and 7000er series in the next firmware-update.
Can someone (from philips) confirm this? Will this bug be fixed in other series (8000, 9000, ...) too?

Severe CI+ problems with 55PFL6606K/02
I have got a Unitymedia CI+ module and experience the same problems other users describe with their modules across Europe. Especially HD channels seem to work completely at random. Apart from that the whole TV software seems even more laggy and seems to crash at times. I sincerely hope that Philips gets that problem sorted quickly since without a fix it renders the TV useless for advanced viewing hence just a very expensive yet simple TV set nobody would need nor recommend.

Smart card version: DNASP110 RevA07
Software version CA-decoder: CAK6_D3 1.4.1.B1.5 1.1.0

Hi folks,
here is another "proud" 37PFL9606K owner. I have the same "encrypted channel" issues with a Unitymedia CI+ module. The module it self is manufactured by SmarDTV and it's called SmarCAM-3. TV has the latest Firmware 000.014.095.000.Last edited by e60; 02-25-2012 at 09:43 AM.

As this is an extremely annoying problem I've contacted e-mail-support with reference to this topic.
Hope that helps....
