Mac Mini - Philips Tv via HDMI problem
Hi there,
hope to find some help here, I´ve searched this forum but haven´t find any solution for my problem.
I´ve tried to connect my Mac Mini with my Philips TV via HDMI, this works fine for about 20 minutes after this the colors on the TV screen nearly inverts and this stay till i restart everything in this setup. And after that the same game with the 20 minutes.
I´ve tried some other HDMI cables but it will be the same problem.
When I try it with any other none Philips TV it just work fine every time! So for my understanding the Mac Mini is fine and the problem in this setup is the Philips TV
Here is my setup:
TV: 32PFL9604 H / 12 with Q5492_0.26.78.0 firmware
PC: Mac Mini 2011 with OS X Lion 10.7.3
Thanks for your help

Same problem for me: MacBook Pro Early 2011; Philips FTV 37PFL8404 H/12
I read that some Philips TVs have problems with the MacOS. I tried to install Windows on my Mac, this works fine with the TV (HDMI too).
One solution is to add a DisplayOverride-Profile (-> google) to the Mac-System, but this only works on 10.7.2 for me, not with 10.7.3
Any other solutions?

Hi
you need to set another Color Theme on the Mac. Normally that can be done in the Graphics Card Drivers.
Unfortunately this is not to do on a Mac. So please get in Contact with apple to change the color space.

Thanks Dylo and Thomas,
I´ve tried your tips but nothing worked for me.
Thomas, I can change the color theme between:
-Display
-Adobe RGB (1998)
-generally RGB Profile
-HD 709-A
-SD 170M-A
-sRGB IEC61966-2.1
But when I change the color theme in this way to any of this profiles after 20 minutes everything is like before, color inverts.
Before i post yesterday I already contacted apple, but they also couldn´t help me.
So I hope if there are some more tips to try.
regards
ktp

Apple pushed out an update (friday) which maybe will fix this issue:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1499
"[...]an issue that can prevent HDCP authentication[...]"
Lets try that

Nice to hear from you Dylo,
do you think this update will work with my mac mini?
Cause, the mac mini and also the mac book doesn´t see this update in the software update when I run the automatic software updater.
should I try it?

@Thomas: I've read in other forums that this issue relies on an HDMI-HDCP-Authentification-Error, which only occurs with Philips-TVs

@ktp: I think this update is only for the macbook pro series of 2011. Maybe you get your update next week?
ATM i try the apple-fix and post a review asap.

Hi, I experience exactly the same problem with my MacMini. A formware update for the MacMini and the Philips TV gets me nowhere. I am thinking of using the VGA connection (mini display / HDMI to VGA, maybe).

Hi @ all,
I´ve done the actual EFI Firmware update for the mac mini.
Bad realization for all the Philips/Mac users out there, it helped not to solve the problem.
@ RenevdH
Using VGA is not an option for watching HD movies.
Before I switch to VGA i go out and buy any none Philips HD TV.
Sorry for that but switching the Computer isn´t possible ;-)

Solution HDMI problem MacMini
After browsing the web for some time I found that the 'HDMI problem' between my Philips TV and my MacMini was caused by an incompatible handshake between the TV and MacMini (which runs Lion). The solution that worked for me is to add a file to the 'Overrides' folder on your Mac. See below:
1. Download http://www.mediafire.com/?fdz29bgsg3zm653
2. Unarchive it
3. In the Finder, go to (using cmd-shift-G) the directory /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/
4. Place the entire directory you unarchived in step 2 (DisplayVendorID-410c) in the directory /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/
5. Reboot
Hope this helps.

Thanks RenevdH
I´ve tried the fix and watched a movie yesterday, and it seems like it works now.
I hope this will stay like it is.
The real funny thing is that Apple and Philips doesn´t get it work! This may open my mind in the next investment.
I will give an update to this thread if there are any new problems between the mac and the philips.
So long I wish you a nice weekend and thank you all for your help.
