SA3CNT08K dead
My daughter's new SA3CNT08K appears to be dead. I have installed songbird (Philips Songbird version: 2.5.6 Build: 5.6.2119; Rev: 707; Firmware: SA3CNT) to attempt to "Repair my Philips device" as discussed here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...9733&faqview=1) , but there are no devices listed, so I cannot continue the repair. I have re-installed the software, but nothing changed. Is there anything else I can try?

The Device Selection Dialog appears before I even connect my device. However, to answer you question, yes, I did press the little reset pin. I've tried everything I can come up with. It appears to me that this version of songbird does not actually support repairing my device.

Reinstalled
I reinstalled the software but nothing changed. I did notice something on the re-installation that I found interesting. Something flashed by that looked similar to:
copying file: <something>/AMD64/Drivers//SACNT/<something>
I am not exactly sure of the directory names involved, but I certainly say the double // I can try it again later and see if I can get better info. I tried to search for the SACNT directory after the installation but I didn't find it. I am wondering if the // kept something from happening.

could your PC recognize the player? (not songbird i mean) - if your PC does recognize just it's not showing in Songbird, then it's indeed Songbird's issue. Cleaning that and reinstalling can help. This works for me before...
but if not even your PC recognize the player, then there may be some hardware issue:
to give it 1 more try- charge it for a while - wall adapter/ PC USB charging, to see what can happen...
* press reset button before connecting it to PC. there are also chances that the reset buttons are not hit, make sure you feel a "tick" pressing that reset pin.
if all this doesnt help, then i m almost sure it's hardware issue. will suggest you going to service
