BDP7500MKII - no 21:9 Format

Hello Forum-Users,
im new on this forum and im here with a (from my point of view) big problem: I have a 56PFL9954H cinema screen and bought the BDP7500MKII just because of its 21:9 video format support. Now i must see that there is no possibility to choose this format as per manual but only the 4:3 and 16:9 formats.
I wonder why Philips produces 21:9 screens but not a bluray-player which supports its format!?
If i could return my player i would do it because all other features are supported by any other (and cheaper) players.....

Hi,

there is no 21:9 format on Blu-ray discs or DVDs. They are always encoded in 16:9 (BDs) and 16:9 or 4:3 (DVDs).

Even if you have a BD with a 21:9 movie you have black bars encoded in the videostream. So you need to use auto zoom or the cinema zoom mode on your 9954 TV.
