My tv set has also a hardware problem, the backlight can be seen in spots around the screen. When I asked the Customer Service for a remedy, they sent a technician who had no idea what to do he just came to pick the tv and have it sent for two weeks. I live near the second biggest city in the country and if I want to deliver it personally to a Philips service I have to travel 6 hours one way. Who will pay me for the travel? And I did not bought an expensive tv to see it's place for two weeks! So just bad solutions. No respect towards the customers.

that's why I was suggesting you to contact a consumers' assciation in Norway: their lawyer could support you in order to prepare a complaint for your defective TV.

Why have you disabled the update through internet? My TV is wallmounted (slim wallmount) and it's a pain in the ass to stick the usb-pen into the right usb-slot

You can use a usb cable extension.

Unfortunately our TV can't read the SD cards and the USB port is necessary even for an universal card reader (mini SD card, SD cards, etc...).

like here in norway can you see the content of all the channels in the ip-epg the in tv-tv program guide? I have rikstv pakke and about 10 channels are not available. Or can you record programs without any problem? Is your usb hard disk always available for recording or do you have to connect it even if it is already connected. Does your tv restart when you are watching 3d content? Do you have to wait 10 minutes if you want to fast forward 1 hour in the movie that you stopped watching earlier? Does you youtoube application looks like a software done by secondary school pupil? Do you have to wait 5-6 seconds to change a tv channel? Does your "what's on?" information page looks like a crap? Can you see the hbb (hybrid) content broadcasted by nrk1 here in norway?
I would be satisfied with this tv if my answers could be yes for these answers, because the reason why i payed 1.100 euro for this tv was to use these functions, not just watch the tv broadcast.

You can be satisfied if you select a tv channel and you do not touch any other button on the remote control. Then the tv is perfect, but if you want to use other functions that's the real pain in the ass. Enough for Philips to start, and I would just to add among other things:

- better DLNA streaming with subtitles
- adjustable subtitles

I know that TV will never be a PC like, but, the speed with which Philips resolving errors is unsatisfying for me, because for three months my TV is out of guarantee and nothing solved. Even worse.

And, yes, an open source FW will be welcome. I think is some kind of Linux.

Anyone in this forum know what kind a machine (€€€) and software it´s necessary to create and run tests on tv software.
Philips develops proprietary software (In this case NXP/trident) and make patents on that, and will put that kind of technology in public domain? LG do that? Samsung do that? any brand?
He need better software? I think so. Can he develop a working firmware for Philips Tv's? It´s hard to believe in that. Can he help on some parts of firmware? Just if the original firmware was developed for that...

NetTV crashes very often and tv goes off many times...

during USB playing doesn't exist a funcion to fast FFW and fast REW (x2, x4.... x16 like time shifting)... or a function that remember last played position...

Welcome to the place where madness meets you at every corner. The more you discover the more mad you will be. Who does not get mad with this tv is just watching the tv broadcast, because nothing else works as it should be.

where is the Hbbtv-feature ?? (an i mean the REAL one not the NETTV/SmartTV-option that simple isnot HbbTV).

In my case I can see just the same which is described here: http://www.hbbtv-infos.de/ so with my PFL5806 everything is OK regarding HbbTV.

I don't have a CI-module, I'm using the built-in DVB-S receiver. But as far as I know HbbTV is through the Internet.

Hi

HbbTV is both, Provider and Internet.
HbbTV Signals are transmitted through the Tuner, those Signals can refer to content which is also in the tuner signal.
But they can also refer to internet content which then ends up in nettv and f.e. zdf mediathek.

Hi,

We have two 47PFL7696K in the family.
Two days before during the night mine turned on by itself and I've been very surprised in the morning that is running (HDMI3 was selected, but got no signal because nothing connected there and I am 100% sure I turned it of at night with internal satelite receiver active). My parents told me that theirs turned on by itself during the day too.
Does anyone recognize the same feature? I am not really happy with this automation turning on feature, so I prefer to use the switch now every day to keep it of.
