Dear crying2004,
Thanks for your info here. For the affected models (BDP3280, BDP3200M2, BDP3200X etc), we are now working on a firmware solution. Please bear with us some time for this. I will let you know when we have a new firmware available. Thanks.
Kind regards,

Dear users,
Please help verifying if the new firmware solves your issue*. If not, please report here in the forum.
Since there are so many models and stroke versions involved in this issue, in case we have not release a firmware to address the issue of your player, please also let us know. (At present, we are checking that for BDP3282. Will update the status later on this)
With thanks & regards,
Philips Moderation Team
* Suggest you to do a factory reset after the upgrade.Last edited by Philips - QK; 06-18-2012 at 09:17 AM.

Just giving the feedback. This last firmware update solved the issue for me.
MY PLAYER: BDP 3200x/78 (BDP3200M2/78)
version 2.38
---- Fixed the MKV aspect ratio issue - 4:3/16:9 would display normally.Last edited by rodrigorc; 06-18-2012 at 11:04 AM.

i'd say vertically stretched in your case.
My case was horizontally squeezed 16:9 showing as 4:3 (SOLVED with the last FW)

Hi all,
I have been having the same playback issues. I have tried to update my firmware with the new release but am getting a message on the unit saying "software failed authorisation, please insert correct software".
My BDP-3200/79 serial number starts with KX1A. Is this update not compatible with my player?
Thanks!
Ben

shud be compatible with your device as well. as it is "BDP3200 /05, /12, /51, /55, /79, /93, /94, /96, /98, X/05, X/12, X/77, X/78- V1.73_V2.38"
you shud have a v1.73 to be upgraded... what version you hv now?
