42PFL4506H/12 Hide channels feature gone after FW upd!
Hi all,
I got this tv: 42PFL4506H/12
After updating the FW to v2.19 (previous 2.18) the "Hide channels" feature is gone!
(You press "Find" followed by "Options" to access the channel list options)
It seems to have been replaced by a new feature called "Favorite" instead?
There is a major drawback with this new feature.
You can't hide the channels in the programguide anymore,
and this is extremely annoying!
(Press "Home" followed by "Programguide")
Before the FW update i had the option to "Hide channel".
The hidden channels would then not show up in the channel list nor the programguide.
But now they do, despite the fact that i have choosen to only show "Favorite" in the channel list.
How do i restore this functionality?
(I use Swedish firmware)Last edited by dobbelina; 03-21-2012 at 04:34 PM.

Hi,
from this post: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ll=1#post24687
I think, this also apply for your new firmware.

Thanks for the reply Toengel.
Your post answered my question.
Obviously i want the hide feature back, otherwise i'll return this tv to the shop in a heartbeat!
(Just bought it)
I had a Philips tv earlier (with this feature), and one of the conditions that i bought this new one, is that is has the same, or improved functionality.
It's horrible to have to sift thru several dozens of channels, that i can't watch!
To re-sort the channels improves it somewhat, but you can't use the up & down buttons to reach the end of the list anymore, as the "unwanted" channels still occupies the programguide.
NOWHERE on the firmware d/l page does it mention that this functionality is removed, and i read the firmware history before flashing!
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...bar=0&zoom=100
Removing critical features, without mentioning it in firmware history, is close to fraudulent behaviour!
It's like taking your car to an authorized dealer for service, only to find out they removed your slick
22 inch rims and tires to replace with wheelbarrow wheels, and "forgot" to tell you about it...
So please, could some kind soul give me a d/l link to the old Swedish FW v2.18 with this feature intact, as it obviously exists, and is what i paid good money for.Last edited by dobbelina; 03-22-2012 at 03:39 AM.

Yesterday i got into direct contact with Philips support.
They told me they couldn't help me, and suggested to continue use
the tv in the crippled mode that the FW update caused.
That reply is really indicative of poor/nonexistent customer service.
I feel bad for people who buy/own a Philips tv after this experience.
And remember, this "hidden" feature removal affects not only my model,
but several (If not all) Philips tv's
Lucky though, I bought this tv recently, with a money back guarantee,
so tomorrow i'll return it to the shop.
Safe to say, next tv wont be a Philips...

Hello
Shall possess tv 32PFL5206H/58
For me also after upgrading from 2.03 to 2.04 FW disappeared hide feature channels.
Of course I turn the TV to the store.
I paid for TV Job post and now I missed it.
It's like I bought a car with spoilers and after payment is received by me the spoilers.
This is very unfair behavior.
I do not want Phillips
Sorry for my English.
I am using the translator.
Regards

Hmm, if there is a patent on Hiding / Unhiding channels - Philips could just add a function "remove channel from list".
I don't really need "Unhide", so "Hide" could be replaced by "Remove".
Can't imagine, there's a patent on Removing Entries from a list :-)
