Philips TV 37PFL7666H/12 and Apple Digital AV adapter
When connected on the side HDMI connector the display of the iPad 2 is displayed on the TV screen. The screen is completely fillid. After some time the displayed (on the TV screen) is smaller than before. Breaking the connection is no solution. After power off and again on for the TV the screen is again completely fillid.

There is no mode, only source: HDMI Side. Changing to the backside connectors HDMI 1,2 or 3 makes no difference. When changing the source to another one and back the screen is for a short while completely filled again.
