Question Issues with Philips TV/Surround sound/TIVO

    Hello
I have just bought a Philips TV - 32PFL5206H, and I am having issues trying to connect my cinema system and TIVO box to it.
Currently, the home cinema is connected SCART to SCART, and the TIVO is connected via HDMI.
However, the cinema system works when playing a DVD, but not when watching normal television, i.e. through the TIVO.
Someone suggested buying a digital audio optical cable which we did, but it would not fit in the SPDIF out hole on the TV!
Does anyone know how I can work this out, either through the 32PFL5206H menus or by buying an additional cable?
    Many thanks

    Hi

to get the Sound out of the TV you can not use Scart. The Scart Connection on the TV is only Input.
So to have the Sound from your TIVO Box played by the Home Cinema System there are 3 ways.

1st: connect the Tivo Box directly to the Home Cinema System.
That can happen via HDMI (if the Home Cinema has that as input) or via Scart.
Most Boxes also have dedicated Audio outputs (RCA)
2nd: connect a SPDIF cable from the TV to the Home Cinema, leave the HDMI connection between TV and TIVO.
(note the TV does not support optical Audio)
3rd: connect the TV to the Home Cinema via Headphone Jack (3.5 klinke)

best option is the 2nd one, so you have the Full HD connection between TV and TIVO and the best possible Audio connection between TV and Home Cinema. However it all depends on the Inputs given by the Home Cinema System!

    Regards
    Thomas
