Connecting 47pf7606/12 to amplifier
Hi,
Yesterday I installed my new 47pf7606/12 with the following connections:
Digital receiver (HD) (UPC) to HDMI-1
DVD (Denon 3910) to HDMI-2
APPLE-TV to HDMI-3
XBOX 360 to HDMI side
All above devices have an TOSlink directly to my DENON AV/receiver (DENON 3806)
I also wanted to connect my DENON amplifier so that the sound of the TV is going through the speakers and not using the TV speakers but in the manual it isn't explained how to do this.
I tried a TOSlink but that doesn't work, I don't want to use an analog connection as I prefer to be able to play surround sound.
Ideally the TV would route all audio , also from above devices, to the av/receiver but it seems to be an utopia to do this.
Without surround sound it doesn't make sense to me to rent any movies from NETTV as it would simple be of lesser quality.
Advise or recommendations to get this to work are highly appreciated.

Hi,
you have two options to transmit multichannel audio from TV to your DENON:
- HDMI-ARC (HDMI with Audio Return Channel, only one port of your TV supports that, but this is written on your TV/manual)
- SPDIF out of your TV
To use HDMI-ARC your DENON also need to support ARC.
So, your setup could be the following:
XBOX->HDMI->TV->HDMI-ARC->DENON
or
XBOX->HDMI->TV->SPDIF->DENON
But you need to know, that only DolbyDigital 5.1 is supported by the TV and consequently only the passthrough of DD5.1 is working. DTS will not work and you will always get 2.0 PCM audio.

thx Toengel,
So if I understand correctly the TV will route all audio to the DENON if I connect the DENON to the HDMI-ARC. Will it do that for all audio regardless of the device and how do I configure this on the tv that it should do this ?
Its a shame that it doesn't support DTS , but the same goes for apple-tv so I'm not loosing too much then.

Hi,
you only need to activate ARC in the TV setup (but should be on as default). Just try it... You should update all devices to the latest firmware...
