    Unhappy Firmware update for HMP3000/98

    Hi,

    I bought a philips HMP3000/98 last november (2011).

It had problems in playing .mov files so i searched in the net and got a new firmware - 12.11.0A.67, which mentioned to changes in playing mov files.

But, still this media player cannot play the following files with their codecs:

    1. MOV - H.264 (AVC1)
    2. WMV - V9
    3. MKV - MPEG4V2 *

    * The Matroska website has a Test Suite of files. The links are:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/matr...es/test_files/
    http://www.matroska.org/downloads/test_w1.html

    Download the zip file (185MB)

This player can play AVC1 in MKV file but not in MOV file. I don't know why?
But, the main problem lies in the SOFTWARE.

And, recently there is a new firmware - 12.11.0A.70, which mentioned about some power-up stability and don't know what does this improve the media player? So, i have not yet tried this new firmware.

So, i request PHILIPS to release a better firmware to play all and any kind of Video and Audio files.

    Thanks,
    PRAVARDHAN

    No. Not yet!

Do you also have the HMP3000 HD Media player with you?

There is small 4-pin connector inside the player that can be connected to PC using USB to TTL Serial Conversion. I think this will give out some logs in the Windows Hyper-terminal.

So, i will be ordering a USB to TTL Serial device based on FTDI 232R IC to test it out.
