How to show subtitles in DVD's played through network or USB?

My TV 37PFL6606H/12 is connected to a home network, and it plays the DVD-video files stored in the library successfully. However, it does not show any subtitles, whatever I try. When I press the option button, it shows "subtitles" ("ondertitels" in Dutch), but this option is greyed out (not selectable). I have installed the latest firmware today (14.97), but this didn't help. When the DVD with its AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders are copied to an USB stick, this has the same effect (subtitling not selectable). And yes, the DVD contains subtitles, I checked that on the PC.
Does a solution exist?

I have discovered how to do this. Use ps3 mediaserver on your host pc. It is developed for ps3, but works fine on many tv sets as well. You can find it here:
