    freeze BDP7600/12 with Onkyo 609

    Setup:

    Blu-ray player: Philips BDP7600/12
    TV: Philips 58PFL9956H/12
    Front and center speaker: KEF
    back speakers: Audio Monitor
    All have latest firmware

Problem: Some movies in "regular" Blu-ray make the Philips Player freeze when connected to Onkyo 609.

For example: Ben Hur 50th anniversary edition, AC/DC, Lion King all play without issue. Star Wars, Wolverine start and then freeze.

Playing DVD's and Blu-ray 3D movies never gives a problem.

When I disconnect the HDMI cable between player and the 609 and push play then the movie starts normally. If I start the player and connect the HDMI while the movie is running then it works. (but I can stop it, or it freezes again)
If start the player with HDMI connected but the Onkyo off then it freezes too.
The only way to get the player to work again is by pulling out from electricity.

When I connect the player directly to the TV then there is never an issue. (so it's not combination disk with player or player with TV that causes the problem)

Philips helpdesk never replied to my mail and Onkyo has been "reviewing the issue" for almost 2 months now.

    any ideas?

If straight connection from BDP to TV is working ok then the issue comes from the other device. Did you upgrade that one already?

yes all the devices have the latest firmware. So it's not that. It's like the "handshake" between the Bluray player and the Onkyo 609 goes wrong.
